Prague 1 is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the fourteenth-largest city in the European Union. It is also the historical capital of Bohemia proper. Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava river, the city is home to about 1.3 million people, while its larger urban zone is estimated to have a population of nearly 2 million. Prague 1, formally the Prague 1 Municipal District, is a second-tier municipality in Prague. It is co-extensive with the national administrative district of the same name. Prague 1 includes most of the medieval heart of the city. The Hanavský Pavilion in Prague offers a free, panoramic view of the Vltava River and the city’s historic bridges. It sits in Letná Park. Built in 1891, it was Prague’s first cast-iron building. Today, it houses a restaurant with a terrace where you can eat and drink while enjoying the scenery. Photo by Ronnie Miranda.
